Looking for a job? Make a "selling" story about yourself
Story
Last year, I needed a writer: calm and with an understanding of the business. I wrote a vacancy on the blog, as a test task I asked to tell about myself. The vacancy was reprinted by a popular site about work, and it was seen by a "wide circle of readers", and I received a hundred responses.
When I filtered out the lunatics, the remaining candidates were divided into three categories: biographers, formalists, and creative.
Biographers: “I was born in 1988 in Maykop, the Republic of Adygea. He graduated from such-and-such a school with honors. In such and such a year he entered the Kuban State University at such and such a faculty. I am fond of fencing and horseback riding, I listen to Beethoven and gangster rap, my favorite writers are Dostoevsky and Murakami. ”
Formalists: "Please consider my candidacy for the position of" Writer for the Internet Media. " My name is Ivanova Ivonna Ivanovna, 23, a graduate of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Regional Studies of Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov. I am stress-resistant, trained, responsible and work well in a team. ”
Creative: “Consider my mimic nomination. I’ve been with text since childhood, my parents called me young Pushkin, and when I grew up and didn’t kill me in a duel, I realized that my life should be connected with word-making and word-weaving. I am a chronic textaholic, textophile and textoman. ”
All these responses are past. There is nothing to talk about with such candidates, even if there is a graduate of my native foreign language. People do not write about that. People do not know the secret.
System
Before writing, a good author ponders three questions:
Who am I writing for? What do these people know and what not?
Why and in what situation will these people read the text? What do they want?
What are they interested in in connection with my product?
Suppose a candidate for a job is preparing to write a letter:
For whom? → For a stranger who has a need for a writer for business media.
Why and how will he read my text? → He will see him in the mail among many letters from other candidates (most likely, sick and inadequate). However, he has little time.
What does he want? → As soon as possible to find an adequate candidate who will solve his problem.
The purpose of the candidate, based on this logic: "To help a stranger immediately see that I will solve writing problems in his business media."
Everything that this candidate will now write will work for the purpose of the text. Each suggestion will help you achieve your goal. Everything that is off topic is deleted. Especially that part about fencing.
